Though moefags suck moar

Now I can hate on South China Sea~~

Results still suck though. And so will these upcoming ones.

I'm also going to take this opportunity (which I will likely reiterate later on in the year) to say a massive 'I TOLD YOU SO' @maglor re: making Homura 3rd seed. ;-;

VI. Seeding Round
A. The Seeding Round takes place between Phase I and II. Each Division's Seeding Round is formatted the same and takes place on the same days.
1. The twelve (12) winners from Phase I form one voting group. The remaining seventy-two (72) Candidates are divided into eight (8) groups of nine (9).
2. The groups are formed based on final results from Phase I.
3. Voters may select up to two (2) characters per group.
4. The results of this event will be used towards initial seeding of Contestants in the Regular Season only.

Homura became 3rd seed because of inherent flaw in the seeding system. Thus my question again : Should we implement better seeding system ( which is available, flexible, and well tested ) , at the expense of making the whole season much more predictable? If one of the proposed seeding system was used, people can use just the seed number to predict the result of most of the matches for most of the year. Only 3 or 4 contestant's end of regular season rank will be more than 3 numbers away from their seed number. ( Post Season Playoff matches are totally different story, and they will be assigned new seed number anyway ) Is this desirable ?

I myself don't really care as much, since seeding only matters for necklace (which is pretty inherently luck based no matter what system is used), but I'm just worried that there are people who will complain about it.

On the other hand, I guess too much predicability will lead to complaints from other people as well. You can't satisfy everyone. So go with whatever is the least work for the staff is fine, I guess.

Does seeding really make things more predictable? I figure most people who bother to figure it out ignore it in favor of their own personal character strength ranking.
A miracle that you believe in when you know it won't happen......... is hope.

Seeding doesn't make things more predictable, but good seed determination process will let people not need to go through analysis to know who are truly favored and who are not. It then becomes matter of perception. If you know that seed number has been assigned so well, and 'your characters' all have double digit seed number, you might feel it isn't worth bothering with the whole torturous regular season. At least now, you have to see the whole Aquamarine period to tell whether you should give up or not. In some cases, you may need to wait till Amethyst is over to determine whether someone is likely in the division's top 8 or not, and you may still need to do some careful analysis to reach your conclusion. With excellent seed determination, you can simply skip the entire regular season and comeback when 2nd phase of SE finals starts, knowing with good confidence whether 'your characters' are still in contention or not, without needing to do any analysis after prelim+seeding rounds are over. I don't believe I am making too exaggerated a claim since we managed to achieve within 7 rank agreement between almost all the seed number and Year-End rank for 2010 and 2011, despite slight flaws in the process and I know a even better method to gather data needed for the seed placement, now, thus the above claim of
Only 3 or 4 contestant's end of regular season rank will be more than 3 numbers away from their seed number.

Mainland China actually appreciates Madoka Magika girls. It is the following countries that are responsible for almost all the losses Madoka Magika girls suffered. Had Madoka Magica girls won in just half the following countries, Homura might be 9-0 right now, and Kyouko might have more wins than losses.

Taiwan
Hong Kong ( + Macau )
Philippine
Malaysia
Indonesia

You can verify this in following maps. Note that these 5 countries all borders South China Sea.

I don't know why, but while those 5 countries very seldom votes for any of the Madoka Magica girls, most of the other regions ( with exception of Canada ) have voted more for than against the Madoka Magica girls. It is as if there is a very large hate group for Madoka Magica series residing in that part of the world.

Maybe that's the case but some of us really know Madoka stuff. It's just that we find their opponents more moe enough.
