Azusa was bit slow to pick up in the early rounds but finally managed to hold her own ground against Mikoto and Shana despite losing. The threat of an Azusa snipe on Mio seems plausible (especially when some past same series matches had very close vote differentials). In terms of hierarchical ranking, Mio would still be stronger than Azusa. So the key questions would then be:

  • How significant is strategic voting going to influence the outcome? Will Azusa fans compromise to give Mio support to have a chance at getting a second necklace?
  • How will faction voting from other key necklace contenders' fanbase impact the results?

  • Bakemonogatari: Oshino Shinobu ♦ Sengoku Nadeko ♦ Senjōgahara Hitagi
  • Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai: Kashiwazaki Sena ♦ Mikazuki Yozora
  • K-On!: Akiyama Mio ♦ Nakano Azusa ♦ Hirasawa Yui ♦ Hirasawa Ui
  • Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?: Eucliwood Hellscythe

Well done to Shana for winning the necklace, congrats to Fate for beating RIn.
But far more importantly Hanyuu got her first win of the season =D

Aw man. I was hoping Biribiri got through. =/ Oh well, there goes Shana again. Other than that, only sad that Minorin lost, but since it was against Nanoha it isn't as bad.

Agreed. ;-; I wish she could actually go 7-0 one of these rounds. =S At least, then we'd be sure she gets into the 16. I hope this doesn't start that horrid losing streak she always goes into to tail off at the end. >_> =S

I was going to comment on the amount of close matches this round, but I just noticed that a lot of the close matches aren't considered close matches on this table. I'm assuming it has something to do with the abstention totals?

Anyway, I highly expect that there was strategic voting going on this round. For example, I highly doubt Fuko would have gotten the amount of votes she did against Chizuru. Fuko winning would have helped Mikoto and Kyou's SDO, while Chizuru winning helped Mio's SDO.

I have to wonder which of the close matches were pivotal in giving Shana the necklace, and which close matches could have helped the others gain the necklace instead...

SDO aside, my thoughts on the results:

Good: Wins for Mei, Kotomi, Ruiko.
Bad: Losses for Fuko, Mikoto, Mihoko, Hitagi, Louise, Holo, Kyou.
Bittersweet: Yui winning at the expense of Kagami

Although I'm glad that Hanyuu got her first win, I really wish Mihoko had won that match despite how I, myself, voted... she's the only Saki representative I've been supporting (Nodoka doesn't do anything for me) since my other favorites (Koromo, Hisa, Yuuki) didn't get in. *sigh* It seems this'll be the third year that someone will finish the regular season with no wins, unless someone decides to be charitable.

Again Mikoto puts up a good fight with no reward.... -_-

Who has a statistics on the vote source? Once I thought it as a feedback or revenge from Japan, but without data I cannot conclude.

You are not alone.
